Alice A. Schaefer

Alice A. Schaefer, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday February 17, 2026. Alice was born in Racine on November 22, 1942, daughter of the late Nathan and Irene (nee: Rush) Sponholtz.

Alice was a proud graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1961”. On July 16, 1966, she married the love of her life, Karl P. Schaefer and have since shared sixty wonderful years together. In her spare time, she enjoyed ballroom dancing and arts and crafts. Above all, Alice was a loving and devoted wife who will be remembered for her kind and gentle ways.

Alice will be dearly missed by her husband Karl; her brother, Donald (Kathy) Sponholtz of Racine; special nephew and niece, Mark (Robin) Sponholtz and Jenny (Travis) Drury; great nieces, Tessa and Tinley; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Christ Church United Methodist, 5109 Washington Avenue, on Friday February 27, 2026,11:00 am, with Rev. George J. Kafer officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 am until time of service at the church. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials to one’s favorite charity in Alice’s name have been suggested.
