Life Story / Obituary
Alice F. Kizewic, age 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, with her niece and great-niece at her bedside. She was born in Racine on June 12, 1928, the daughter of the late Stephen and Kazimiera “Anne” (nee Valukas) Kizewic.
Surviving are her sister, Eunice Beach; 8 nieces and nephews; 10+ great-nieces and nephews; 11+ great-great-nieces and nephews; 5 great-great-great-nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. In addition to her parent’s, she was preceded in death by three brothers, David (Nancy) Kizewic, Richard (Shirley) Kizewic and Stephen (Darla) Kizewic.
Alice graduated from William Horlick High School, Class of 1946. She then became a head secretary who was hardworking and dedicated. She earned the respect of those around her through her knowledge of short hand, her commitment, reliability, and work ethic. She retired in 1994.
Alice loved looking for new adventures and experiences. She moved from Wisconsin to Denver and back, traveled locally and abroad, as well as visited relatives in Lithuania. She even went to Ireland, where she attended a retreat with nuns. She treasured each experience in life to the fullest.
As longtime member of St. Richard Catholic Church, Alice’s faith was an important part of who she was. She lived her faith with kindness, generosity, compassion, and forgiveness.
Alice loved her nieces and nephews as though they were her own children. She also loved bringing people together, and her home was a place where family and friends could always feel welcome. Christmas gatherings and Green Bay Packers games brought plenty of laughter, conversation, and, of course, plenty of snacks and treats. Alice found great joy in making those around her feel comfortable, cared for, and at home. Whether celebrating the good times or offering support through the difficult ones, Alice was there with an open heart and without hesitation.
Alice enjoyed reading, walking, bowling, playing cards, spending time with loved ones, being a part of communities at church, her condo, and the activities at her assisted living. Even at 98, Alice continued to discover new little joys. This summer, she developed a special love for Culver’s lemon ice and enjoyed scrolling through the wonders of Pinterest with her great-niece; she also cheered on her great-great-nephew at his kickball game.
Alice will be remembered for her outgoing personality, expressive face, generous spirit, kind heart, strong faith, and, most of all, the love she gave so freely to anyone. Her family will carry on her generous selfless love, and the many memories she created throughout her remarkable 98 years in their hearts forever.
Alice’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at Home Inspired Senior Living for welcoming Alice into their community. Every department had a hand in making her last home as independent and loving as she wanted.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Alice’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1509 Grand Avenue. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum.
Donations on her behalf can be made to the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture of Chicago https://balzekasmuseum.org/donate/ or St. Richard’s Catholic Church of Racine.
