ALICE CHANLYNN

Our mom's greatest dream was to be a wife and mother. She was great at both. Alice went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tony Chanlynn.

At this time of loss, our family wishes to honor both of our parents who were a part of the "Greatest Generation." Mom and dad provided a country home on the Root River. We were genuinely close and did just about everything together: hunting and fishing, camping, skiing, many years of drum corps shows, horseback riding, and lots of skating on the river. Our parents gave us a "leg up" on life and lead by example the qualities of personal integrity and compassion.

Mom was wise and feisty! After dad passed away, she worked many years at Sentry Foods taking good care of her customers who became friends. Though quite small, she was mighty and a good athlete. She excelled at bowling and golf and played in many leagues throughout the years. She was also always ready to go to the ballpark! Nothing could beat pizza or ice cream and she made pretty good pilaf! However, nothing could compete with dancing. She and dad, the best of friends, went dancing every week. She resided in Racine her entire life with the exception of four recent years she spent in Colorado with two of her children and their families. She enjoyed the mountains, the dogs, and going to all the sporting events and concerts that her grandkids participated in.

Alice found a home at the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Racine. She was baptized in Lake Michigan along side her grandson Tony by Pastor Ray Christenson and her son, Lance.

We laugh at the irony of this important day as she never cared for the icy water of the great lake! She also made a home at the River Church in Lyons, Colorado. She made many good friends in both.

Surviving are her three sons and two daughters in law: Scott and Linda Chanlynn of Florence, Wisconsin; Mark and Diane Chanlynn of Lyons, Colorado; Lance Chanlynn of Racine, Wisconsin; one daughter and son-in-law, Heidi Chanlynn and Mike Parrott of Lyons, Colorado; and four grandchildren, Beth Ann Chanlynn of Iron Mountain, Michigan, Tony Chanlynn of Racine, Wisconsin, and Randi Parrott and Matthew Chanlynn of Lyons, Colorado.

Visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday May 25, 2016 followed by a service celebrating Alice’s life at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Cundari officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.

We celebrate mom seeing the Lord face to face, that her body is free from suffering, and that she and our dad will be dancing together once again.
