Alsalvo Oliver Sr. made his transition to eternal life on Tuesday February 25, 2020 at the age of 57. He battled cancer for 2 years. Alsalvo passed away peacefully wrapped in the arms of his oldest sister, Julia Mae Witherspoon, while hearing the words of how much he was loved. ‘He was born in Racine on July 7, 1962, son of the late Ruby (nee: Price) and Clyde Oliver Sr.

Alsalvo worked in construction for a number of years, but was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family and friends. It was the simple things in life that brought him joy, such as, taking walks or celebrating his birthday with his twin cousin Dwayne Gladney, dancing, music, fishing, basketball, riding bikes and playing “strike out” with his brother Gil. Above all it was time spent with family, and friends that he cherished most.

Surviving are his children, LaToya Montgomery, Shanika (Marvin) Humphries Sr., Alsalvo Oliver Jr., Shatocka Shepard, Theresa (Johnathan) Shaw Sr., Elon (Ernestine) Oliver, Alicia Oliver, and Jasmine Oliver. Grandchildren, DeMonti Hubbard, Devell Hubbard, Reno Barry, Rashya Barry, Devaron Jones, Iziaih Jones, Eric Jones, Blessing Humphries, Shanika Humphries, Marvin Humphries Jr., Aydris Alsalvo Oliver, Mahaliah Shepard, Terrence Hinton, Teejayliah Hinton, Kaleb Shaw, Johnathan Shaw Jr., Zachary Shaw, Layla Shaw, Janahsia Oliver, Marley Oliver, Ethan Oliver, Asia Oliver, and Amirah Brown. One great-grandchild, Ne’Quelle Hubbard and a great grandchild to be welcome into the family soon. Siblings Julia (Michael) Witherspoon, Annie (Joe) McLemore, Clyde Oliver Sr., Timmy Oliver, and Twanna Jean Oliver. Aunts Merida Kirk-Griffey and Lillie Louella Price and Uncle Booker T. Oliver. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Special loved ones dear to Al were Mertis Oliver, Mary Montgomery, Regina Shepard, Michelle Parks, Dwayne Gladney. Special friends, Victor Price, Brad Turner, Jimmy Concentine, Jimmy Beavers, Clintin (Red) Montgomery, Jeffery Dotson, David Pierce, Cheryl Weill, Amanda Hilton, Deacon John Wayne Kidd, Walter and Angela Hamilton and Larry Goodwin.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his daughter April Bogan and her mother Samantha Bogan; sisters, Theresa, Mittie, Ruthie and Dale Oliver, and Lendon (Warner) Bell; Brothers Dennis and Gil Oliver. Also, niece Brandy and nephews Fatoma and Jayceon; maternal and paternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020, 11:00 am at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Private interment will be held.
