Anastasia “Ann” Alecos (nee: Merzanidis), age 95, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon August 17, 2026 at her residence. Anastasia was born in Platy, Greece on May 2, 1931, daughter of the late Antonio and Christina Merzanidis.

On November 5, 1950 in Platy, Greece, Ann was united in marriage to Anton S. Alecos. They immigrated to the United States in 1956, raised two children, Sava and Heidi, and shared sixty-seven beautiful years together before Anton passed away in 2018. Ann was employed with JI Case Co for over twenty-five years. She was a longtime dedicated member of the Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church and Philoptochos “friends of the poor”. A God loving woman, Ann made a point of asking everyone she encountered “if they knew Jesus”. In her spare time, Ann enjoyed gardening and cooking for family. Above all, she loved her Lord and was deeply devoted to and cherished time with her family.

Ann will be dearly missed by her children, Sava (Paula) Alecos, Heidi (Robert) Domanik; her grandchildren, Robert Domanik Jr., Anthony (Collette) Domanik; her great-grandchildren, Corban, Alethea, Zoe, Calvin and Samuel Domanik; siblings, Kalliope (George) Papazoglou, Tasso (Sophia) Merzanidis; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis Alecos, Savvaa Telikizogliou,; nieces and nephews, many relatives in Greece and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was also preceded in death by her brother, Demetro Merzanidis and sisters, Maria Telikizogliou and Magthalene (Saraphine) Topolethis, brother-in-law, James Alecos and nephew, Spiro Alecos.

Funeral services will be held at the Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 1335 South Green Bay Road, Friday, August 21, 2026, 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Father Athanasios C. Pieri officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Joseph Matthew, Dr. Desiree Dizadji, Karen Murillo NP-NPI and their staffs at Ascension, her caregivers, Lashay Jackson, Mary Karapanos and Lemonia Safedis, , her wonderful neighbors, and the staff at Compassus Hospice for all their loving and compassionate care.
