Anthony (Tony) Gerald Matalik, 46 years old, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in New London WI. Tony was born in Racine WI on January 4, 1979. He attended St. John Nepomuk School, St. Catherine’s High School and Horlick High School. He graduated from Horlick High School in 1997. In February 1998, he joined the U. S. Navy. He was very proud of his nine-year naval career as an Electronics Technician and was deployed with the USS Caron and the USS Monterey on several overseas missions. He received many commendations and medals for job excellence, diligence, responsibility, dependability and knowledge. In October 2006, he started his second career at Zund America in Franklin WI. He was hired as a Service Technician and rose to Service Manager in a short period of time. After over 10 years with Zund, he made the decision to use his Navy education benefits to the fullest extent possible. And he did – pursuing flight training, photography, and architectural design at Gateway and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. He also obtained his Commercial Driver License.

Tony had a plethora of interests ranging from deer and snow geese hunting, sky diving with hundreds of jumps and progressing to wing suit jumping, photography with an Instagram page of followers, and raising and creating Bonsai trees. But his true passion was kayak fishing for smallmouth bass. He had several kayaks and was on the many beautiful river waters of Wisconsin every chance he got. He was a natural-born fisherman and, when no one else was catching smallmouth, Tony was!

Tony was an organ and tissue donor. He will be helping two people see and 50+ people will have their lives enhanced from donated tissue.

Tony is survived by his mother, Jeanne (Meier) Matalik, sister Tracy Matalik, sister Andrea Barker and her husband, Beau, nephews Leo and Marek Barker, son Christian Matalik, his constant companion and guardian angel Jennifer Immel, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, close friend and fishing buddy Jason Boring.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Matalik, paternal and maternal grandparents, and uncle Bruce Meier.

Tony’s passing came far too soon and we are heartbroken. We will forever remember and love him. A remembrance get-together for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 5:pm at Infusino’s Banquet Hall, 3201 Rapids Drive, Racine WI 53404.

In memory of Tony, enjoy the great outdoors and throw a line into the water. He may send a fish your way …
