Arlene Aronin, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters, on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Heritage Senior Living, Muskego, WI. She was born in South Milwaukee, WI, November 10, 1927, daughter of the late Walter and Helen (Nee: Willms) Dunkelow and had been a longtime resident of Racine moving to Muskego 9 months ago to be near her daughter.

Arlene grew up on a dairy farm in Franksville always following her dad around, learning the ropes of farm life from driving the tractor to riding horses. She was a graduate of Wm Horlick High School “Class of 1945”. Following high school Arlene held a secretarial job but it wasn’t until she found her dream role as legal secretary for the firm of Potter & Smith that she hit her stride and identified her passion for law. On May 26, 1955 she was united in marriage to Irving Aronin and together they raised two daughters. With her children nearly grown, Arlene returned to work as Deputy Clerk serving the people of the Village of Wind Point until her retirement. After nearly 45 years of marriage, her loving husband passed away November 24, 1999.

Arlene enjoyed many hobbies including playing the piano, singing, sewing and crocheting but her granddaughters were her everything. She was known to the girls as Nini. Nini attended their musical performances, school and sporting events always beaming with pride. Arlene had a passion for travel. From girls’ weekends in Door County, salmon fishing in Alaska to cruising the Mediterranean, she loved it all and couldn’t wait to plan her next adventure. Arlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be profoundly missed.

Surviving are her daughters, Wendi (Steven) Upthagrove of Muskego, Jodi (Daniel) Hoffman of Minneapolis, MN; granddaughters, Amy and Catherine Upthagrove; brother, Howard Dunkelow of South Milwaukee; other relatives and dear friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Heritage Muskego team and Brighton Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Monday, August 31, 2020, 10-11 am. A funeral service will follow at 11 am with Reverend Michael Petersen officiating. Masks are required and will be provided if needed. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association have been suggested.
