Arlene M. Veltus, (nee: Fangman) passed away peacefully Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the age of 94, with her two daughters, Susan and Julie at her bedside. Arlene was born in Dyersville, IA March 11, 1931. She was the beloved wife of the late John H. Veltus, whom she married on February 9, 1952, in Dubuque, IA. She met John while he was attending school at Loras College. Shortly after their marriage, John entered the Army and was stationed in Germany. Arlene went with him and spent two years in Germany while he completed his 2-year duty.
Arlene enjoyed her daily walking, playing bridge, and doing water aqua size aerobics. She loved reading books, traveling, and watching her favorite sports teams, the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. The joy of her life was her 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic as a member of St. Edwards and St. Paul the Apostle Churches. At St. Paul she regularly served as a Eucharistic minister and often stuffed envelopes. She also was a volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry.
Arlene was the loving mother of six children, Gregory Veltus, Brian Veltus, Susan (William) Schwaab, Julie Veltus (Randy Williams), Michele (Galen) Steig, and John Veltus. She is survived by sister-in-law, Lois Veltus, Glenwood Springs, CO and brother-in-law, Joseph Dombrowski, Grand Junction, CO.
