Life Story / Obituary
Barbara Susan Ambrose, age 79, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 27, 2026, at her home. She was born in Racine, July 28, 1947, the 1st of 6 children of Charles and Suzanne (Nee: Sabo) Gossett.
Barbara graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1965”. On April 12, 1975, she was united in marriage to James E. Ambrose and they were blessed with 2 daughters, Carlee and Cory. They were married for 36 years when Jim passed May 10, 2011. Barbara was employed at SC Johnson CO for 40 years and was proud of her many perfect attendance certificates. She was a member of the SC Johnson 20-year Club. In her younger years Barbara was very athletic and enjoyed playing on various Dart leagues, and Bowling teams. She was a WI Badgers football fan and rooted for the San Francisco Forty Niners. She enjoyed trips up north to Wild Rose Oakwood Campground, trips to the casino, watching crime shows and just sitting outside in the sun. Above all she treasured time spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her daughters, Carlee Anbrose, Cory (Dan) Povkovich; grandchildren, Cassandra Ambrose, Erin Ambrose, Sean Davis, Charisma Davis, Kaitlyn Kasabian, Ethan Kasabian, Dominic Povkovich; great grandchildren, Jayce Miller and Jayden Ambrose; siblings, Patricia (Ray) Podoba, Elizabeth Heusser, Fred Gossett, Suzanne Bodi; in laws, Char (Bill) Anderson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Gossett.
A memorial service will be held at the Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main Street, Thursday, September 10, 2026, 1 pm. Interment will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Dover. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service noon until 1 pm.
