Cam'Ron LaShawn Barker

Cam’Ron LaShawn Barker, age 18, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital as the result of senseless gun violence. He was born in Racine, Wisconsin, the beloved son of Sherita L. Barker and Bruce B. Smith Sr.

Cam’Ron attended West Ridge Elementary School, St. Catherine’s High School, and proudly graduated from J.I. Case High School just one week earlier on June 7, 2026. He enjoyed sports and working out. Cam’Ron loved playing basketball and played football while attending St. Catherine’s. He loved to socialize, dance, and spend time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his funny personality, his ability to make people laugh, and the smile he always wore on his face.

Cam’Ron was more than a son—he was his mother’s best friend. He loved being by her side and spending time with his family whenever he could. He was a hardworking young man who put his all into everything he did, whether it was school, sports, or work. Cam’Ron had a special love for his brothers and sisters, especially his sisters, who meant the world to him. He loved making his family laugh, creating memories together, and being there for the people he cared about. Family was everything to him, and he cherished every moment spent with those he loved. His love, loyalty, strong work ethic, and unforgettable smile will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him forever. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his parents, Sherita L. Barker (James Robbins) and Bruce B. Smith Sr.; his brothers and sisters, Bruce Smith Jr., Leah Barker, Jream Robbins, Nas’Zier Barker, grandparents, Vernon “Bud” Barker, Amy McGee, Jewel Smith, and Bruce McNeil; aunts and uncles, Shereka Dawson, John Rockette Jr., Veronica Rodriguez, Arthur Rodriguez, Vernon Barker Jr., Shakala Rockette, Ebony Smith and Javonna Howard; along with many cousins, other relatives, and friends who loved him dearly.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held Monday, June 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main Street, Racine, Wisconsin, with Apostle LeRoy Shanks officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
