Christopher James Peterson, age 60, passed away with his loving family at his side on Thursday, January 27, 2022, following a month-long illness. He was born in Racine, on September 8, 1961, Son of Kathryn (Nee Ahnen) Heinen and James Peterson.

He is survived by his mother, Kathryn Heinen, dear friend, Sharon Campbell; siblings, Randy (Diana) Peterson, Virginia Orth, Matthew (Chris) Peterson, Mark (Karen) Peterson and Antoinette (Darryl) Liddell. He is further survived by his children, grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his loving stepfather, Jack Heinen.

Chris was a member of the “Class of 1978 at Horlick High School”. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1986 – 1990 stationed in Texas and then Alaska. His love of Alaska and fishing kept him there for over 31 years before moving back to Racine in 2020. He worked as a master electrician all across the state of Alaska including engine repair for the Alaskan Railroad.

While in Alaska he married Dana Jetzer and became a stepfather to her two children, Jennifer and Justin Adair: When Jennifer became a mother to Justice and Brandon Bagley, Kylee Walls and Jayden Henley, Chris became a grandpa. He was endearingly regarded as Papa by his Alaskan family who were the love of his life. In recent years he became a proud great grandparent, always ready to share pictures, when Justice gave birth to Kinzlee and Averi Maness.

He was a very passionate person having a deep regard for the Earth and all God’s creatures. His favorite past time was fishing and to know Chris you only needed to ask him to share his knowledge on the subject. He is survived by many pets most notably his two dogs Buster and Emma.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1100 Erie Street, Friday, February 4, 2022, 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 9-11 a.m. in the church. Masks are required and will be available if needed.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Ascension All Saints for their care and support during this difficult time. They are true angels of mercy.
