Life Story / Obituary
Cynthia W. Gleason, age 81, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Milwaukee, May 3, 1933, daughter of the late Henry and Alta (Nee: Guthrie) Wylie.
Cynthia was raised in West Allis and graduated from West Allis Central High School “Class of 1951”. She attended the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. In 1953 in Milwaukee she married Kenneth Gleason and together they raised 4 children. Cynthia worked for Zahn’s Department Store as well as other Racine businesses. Her Christian faith was very important to her and she was active member of First Presbyterian Church having served as an elder and as a deacon. She also was in the Senior Gems. Cynthia was a watercolorist and participated in many arts groups in Racine. Above all it was time spent her family that she treasured the most and she will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her children, Kenneth (Melinda) Gleason of Verona, WI, Jeffery (Anne) Gleason of Roseville, MN, William (Heidi) Gleason of Richfield, MN, Kathryn Gleason of Racine; grandchildren, Kelly Gleason of Bayview, WI, Timothy (Monica Pacheo) Gleason of Madison, WI, Katelyn Gleason of Richfield, MN; great granddaughter, Aurora Gleason of Bayview, WI; many beloved nieces, nephews and their children, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles C. Wylie, Mary E. Furru, and Marjorie M. Loeser
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Ave, with Reverend Ben Johnston-Krase officiating. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet Wednesday at the funeral home, 5-7 P.M. and on Thursday at the church, 10:30 A.M. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Presbyterian Church; firstpresracine.org or the Hospitality Center; hospitality-center.org have been suggested.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you for the exceptional medical care provided by Dr. Desiree Dizadji, Dr. Diana Turner, Karen Murillo NP, and the nurses and staff at the Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Hospital and the Heart Failure Clinic.
