Danny “Deacon” Bruce Tyce, age 73, departed his earthly life and entered into eternal life on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Almost Home Care under Compassus Hospice Care. Danny was born on August 29, 1951, in Newbern, TN to the late J.C. Tyce and Doris (Nee: Ellis) Tyce.

He accepted Christ at an early age at the St. Paul C.M.E. Methodist Church in Newbern, TN. Danny attended Monroe Grammar School in Newbern, TN and Rock Spring School in Roellen, TN before moving to California in the mid 60’s to live with his dad and stepmom (Annalyn Tyce). Danny was a well liked person and was truly loved by all his family in Tennessee and California.

In his youth Danny liked sports and was a gifted athlete. He was one of the first sports letterman at the newly built Mission Junior High School in Rubidoux, California. He was a standout athlete in track and field at Rubidoux High School and was a competitive athlete in low hurdles. He also played Varsity football. Danny graduated from Rubidoux High School in 1970. He exemplified leadership skills and characteristics. Danny also earned an Eagle Scout Badge. He was also active in the community established youth Outpost Program.

Danny, literally speaking, fell in love with the girl across the street, his high school crush, Deborah “Debbie” Palmore. Danny was drafted in the United States Army in 1971 and married Deborah Palmore Tyce in May of 1972. As a married couple, they moved to Monterey, California where Danny was stationed at Fort Ord

CA Military Base. While in Monterey, Debbie gave birth to their first child, Danny (D.J.) Bruce Tyce Jr. Danny’s continued military service moved his family to NATO base in the Netherlands (Holland) followed by the military base at Fort Knox, Kentucky. While in Fort Knox, Debbie gave birth to their second child, Maretha Sherea Tyce. When Maretha was three months old, Debbie returned back to California. She and Danny parted ways but remained friends up until his passing.

After finishing his service commitment at Fort Knox, Danny moved to the Norwalk/Sandusky Ohio area and later married Victoria “Vicky” Lehmann. To this union three sons were born, Nicholas, Kerry and Jesse Tyce Sr. Danny resided in Sandusky, Ohio for several years and worked at J C Robot. After many years in Sandusky, he moved to Racine where he was employed at Goodwill Industries as a lead line leader. He truly did not like cold weather, so Danny moved back to Tennessee. In Tennessee, he worked at Jimmy Deans factory in Newbern, TN. He joined the St. John Baptist Church in Newbern, TN and was ordained as a Deacon.

Danny stayed in Tennessee until his health started to fail him and he moved back to Racine despite the cold weather to be closer to his family. He joined the Greater St. Luke’s Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Pipes. Danny truly enjoyed Sunday School and morning service. He also attended the Anointed With Fresh Oil Ministry Bible Study which was held in the Trinity Terrace Apartments for seniors where he resided. He was ordained as a Deacon over the Bible Study Ministry.

Danny loved watching football and western movies. He also loved drawing, fishing, and putting together model cars, trucks and boats. He enjoyed playing spades with his Trinity Terrace friends and especially with his family. Danny loved family gatherings most of all. As his health started to decline rapidly, he never lost faith in God. As the doctors told him his prognosis, he boldly told them that it was all in God’s hands. Danny is truly loved and will be greatly missed.

Danny leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Maretha Tyce, Nicholas (Melissa) Tyce, Kerry (Christy) Tyce and Jesse (Dorian) Tyce; grandchildren, Gerald Henderson, Decori Fuller, Jeven, Jasmine, Heaven, Jesse Jr., Katai Tyce, Zachary Wheeler, Cheyenne and Amya Eppse; great-grandchildren, Kaygan Tyce and Serayah Fuller; sisters, Rhonda (Chris) Bogan, Jay Ann Tyce Resendez; stepbrother Charles Oliver; stepsister, Deborah Oliver Baynes; Uncles, J Louis and Marcellous (Mark) Nance; Aunts, Carel Nance Cates and Anna Nance Trump; sister-in-law, Velma Wells Tyce; special great great nephew, Dezriel Posey; and a host of other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, D.J. Tyce Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Jesse (Hattie) Ellis; his paternal grandparents, Jesse (Lillie) Nance, Marshall (Lizzie) Tyce; sisters, Wanda Joyce Pierce, Betty Doris Watson, Christine Tyce, Linda Davidson; brothers, William Pierce, Michael M.J.
