David Lyons

David Lyons, age 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday May 20, 2026 at Froedtert Memorial Hospital. David was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 4, 1941, son of the late John and Mary (nee: freedman) Lyons.

David proudly served in the US Army. While stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, he met the love of his life Patricia Redmond. They were married on November 4, 1965 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Philadelphia. They shared fifty-five beautiful years together before Patrica passed away in 2020. As a drug and alcohol counselor, David helped countless people through their most difficult days. He was employed at many places throughout the years helping people through chemical dependency. In 1975 he started his journey with AA and in 1983 went back to school at DePaul to become a drug and alcohol counselor. He was a longtime member and past president of the Racine ALANO Club. David will be remembered for his gift of gab, storytelling, his ability to engage anyone in conversation, his interest in politics, and watching sports. Above all, he will be best remembered for his great love and devotion to his family, especially his grandchildren and his canine companions.

David will be dearly missed by his children, Shawn Lyons, Deb (Bob) Hughes, Michael (Melissa Comstock) Lyons; grandchildren, Mark (Ashley Majors) Quinn, Mack (Emilee) Davidson, Tina Lyons, Abbie (Dylan Czappa) LaFever; great-grandchildren, Na’eem, McKenna, Vanshay, Vanity, Aiden, Mya Rose, Jace, Hyaline, Claire, Ava, Audrey, and Caiden; sister, Eileen (Walter Sidorsky; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, David was also preceded in death by his siblings, Patricia (Jimmy) Kelly, Katherine (Norb) Allston, Joan (John) Fitzpatrick and Thomas Lyons nieces nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday May 27, 2026, from 3-5 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorials to the Alano Club 1140 Douglas Avenue in Racine have been suggested.
