With his family by his side, Dean D. Dowhower, age 86, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 19, 2026, at Lakeshore at Siena. He was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, July 28, 1939, son of the late Daniel and Christine (Nee: Verwey) Dowhower.

On May 9, 1959, Dean was united in marriage to Jolene Walden. With a strong work ethic, he was employed by Twin Disc for 36 years, until his retirement in 2001. Dean was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In his youth he was an awesome baseball player and was recruited to play for the Cincinnati Reds. Dean also enjoyed golfing and deer hunting, especially with his cousins.

He was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by his wife, Jolene of 66 years; his children, Larry (Loretta) Dowhower, Brenda Dowhower (Lisa Thielke), Dr. Daniel Dowhower (Dr. Richard Settersten), Dave (Susan) Dowhower; 5 grandchildren, Dustin and Derek (Annie) Dowhower, Maya and Mario Settersten and Sam Dowhower; great granddaughter, Everly Dowhower; brother-in-law, Dean Walden; best friend, Ed Chapin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services celebrating Deans life will be held at 10:30 am at the funeral home, Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation Tuesday at 9:30 am until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Hwy. 32.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers at Lakeshore at Siena, especially “T”, “CC”, Crystal and Maya, Special friend, Betty Majeski and Compassus Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
