Craft, Delores Lillian (nee Heidenreich )

Went home to Jesus on January 30, 2022, at the age of 94. Cherished wife of the late George Craft, loving mom of Tim (Susan) Craft and grandma to Nona and Mahriana. Preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Viola Heidenreich (nee Klapproth). Sister of the late Viola “Dolly” (Henry) Schuppe, the late Jerry (Anne) Heidenreich and the late Dorothy (George “Youtch”) Ferancheck. Sister-in-law of Eleanor (the late Frank) Moses and the late Henry (Margaret) Craft. Beloved aunt of the late Cathy Dugdale, Nancy Nitzke, Linda (Dan) Vassh, Jerry Feranchek, Tony (Gina) Feranchek, Susan Wilsman, Diane Heidenreich, Sharon Kerkman, Meri (Bill) Stougaard, Debbie Moses and Cheryl Moses. Further survived by many great and great-great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Delores “Dee” Craft was born on September 16, 1927 in Racine, Wisconsin and was the youngest of her parents four children. Dee graduated from Wm. Horlick High School in 1945 and in her earlier years was employed by the A&P Tea Company in Racine. At a young age, Dee discovered her love for playing the piano. It was this love for piano playing that would lead to her meeting her future husband, George. Dee and George met at a Racine USO dance. At that time George was stationed at Great Lakes while serving in the US Navy. Dee was working as a piano player with a USO band. George and Dee married on August 28, 1948. George and Dee were lovingly married for 45 years. George preceded Dee in death on September 29, 1993.

Dee was lifelong resident of Racine and was employed as a Bookkeeper at the Corner House Restaurant from 1976 to 2002, retiring at the age of 75.

Dee was a long-time member of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church. She was an avid fan of both the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. Dee enjoyed playing cribbage with her sister Dorothy. When Dorothy dealt her a perfect 29 hand, Dee always said Dorothy was more excited about it than she was! Dee kept that special place in her heart for piano playing, continuing to play her entire life. Dee treasured the time she spent with family and friends, creating a lifetime of cherished memories.

Visitation and a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 12th at Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church in Racine from 10:30 am until time of Funeral Service at 11:30 am.

Donations in Dee’s memory can be made to Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church.
