Life Story / Obituary
Dennis Henry Eschmann, age 79, passed away Friday, November 1, 2024, at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee. He was born in Racine, WI, June 14, 1945, son of the late Otto and Evelyn (Nee: Bouwma) Eschmann.
Dennis graduated from Wm. Horlick High School “Class of 1964”. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1968 and had been in DaNang during the TET Offensive. On June 8, 1969, at Sioux City, IA, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carol K. Keller and they moved to Racine to start their new life. Dennis was an electrician by trade and was employed at Young Radiator, Racine Steel Castings and retired from J.I. Case Co. He was a member of Emaus ELCA Church and served as a volunteer for Raymond Fire and Rescue for many years. He was very handy and could fix anything. Dennis’s passion was woodworking and was known for his Jesus Fish. He considered the woodworking of the Jesus Fish a ministry as he gave away over 10,000 all over the world. He loved kids and was a trusted mentor for many. Dennis will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his silly jokes, and ability to lighten up the mood. Above all he treasured time spent with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Carol; 4 children, Nicholas (Jennifer) Eschmann, Laura (Mark) Smith, Alan (Darbi) Eschmann, Ellen Whitman; 10 grandchildren, William, Emmaleigh, Annelisa, Alaina, Elizabeth, Sophia, Alyssa, Alexander, Logan, and Brittany; siblings, John Eschmann, Linda (Russell) Ferrara, Jane (Gregg) Reilly, David (Jannelle) Eschmann, Ronald (Cindy) Eschmann; sisters -in-law, Barbara Eschmann, Lanette Clendaniel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends, especially Michaela Wieties. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas, and sister in-law Diane.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held at Emaus Lutheran Church, 1925 Summit Avenue, Saturday, November 16, 2024, 11 am with Reverend Marcy Wieties officiating. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 9:30 am – 11 am. The service will be live streamed and may be viewed https://www.youtube.com/@emauselca8146
