Life Story / Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Donald Edward Steltenpohl, who left this world peacefully in his sleep at his home at Oak Ridge Care Center on October 8, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on May 5, 1938, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, Don was a beloved son to Edward and Lillian (Tiernan) Steltenpohl and a cherished sibling to a large and loving family.
Don was a man whose life was deeply rooted in love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Patricia, with whom he shared 36 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised two children, nurturing a home filled with warmth and joy. The loss of their son Edward was a profound sorrow in their lives, yet their bond remained unbroken.
He is survived by his daughter, Stacy Lawrence, and her husband, Brian, who provided him with endless pride and joy. His beloved grandson, Brayden, was the light of his life, and the memories they created together are cherished treasures. Don is also survived by his siblings, Wayne (Barb) Steltenpohl, Kathy Kolo, and Ronald (Shirley) Steltenpohl, who were constant companions throughout his journey.
A devoted fan of Elvis Presley, Don's love for music was surpassed only by his love for his family. Whether singing his favorite songs, cheering on the Brewers and Packers, or sharing a well-timed joke that lit up the room, Don's presence was a source of joy and laughter for all who knew him. His kindness was boundless, often extending a helping hand to others even during his own struggles.
Don's work as a security guard at Case and the Journal Times showcased his dedication and hard-working nature. He was a man who took pride in providing for his family, ensuring they were always cared for and supported.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove and St. Croix Hospice. The compassionate care and support provided by Becky and Allison, in particular, were a source of comfort and strength for Don and his family during his final days.
In keeping with Don's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life and legacy. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Don's memory to a charity of your choice.
