Donna Jean (Gedemer) Darrey, age 73, passed away Monday afternoon September 6, 2021, at St. Joseph Hospital North in Lutz, FL, due to complications of COVID. Donna was born in Racine, WI on November 16, 1947, daughter of the late, Richard and Josephine (nee: Borglin) Gedemer.

Donna attended St John Nepomuk grade school and graduated from St Catherine’s High School, Class of 1965. She later became a registered Nurse and was employed with Ascension All Saints (formerly St. Mary’s and Wheaton Franciscan) for thirty-five years until she retired in 2003. She was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. Donna relocated to Tampa, FL in 2006 to be nearer to her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed socializing and going to lunch with her friends. An avid sports fan, Donna loved the Green Bay Packers, was a fan of Duke basketball, and the Milwaukee Brewers. She will be best remembered for her great love and devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren.

Donna will be dearly missed by her sons, John R. Darrey (Munira Grinnage), Steven (Heather) Darrey; grandchildren, Jackson and Ella Darrey, Adriana Grinnage, and Angelie Gonzales), all of Tampa, FL; sisters, Judy Koke of Racine, MaryJo (Michael) Kloster of Edwardsville, IL; former brother-in-law, Robert Koke of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Donna was also preceded in death by her grandparents and infant brother.

In Tampa----A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church at 821 S. Dale Mabry Hwy. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Saturday September 18, 2021 from 930 am-1030 am with a service immediately following at 1030 am. In lieu of flowers, please make your donations to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Tampa Fire Museum.

In Racine----A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green Street, on Friday October 1, 2021, 11:00 a.m.. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Masks are required and will be available. In lieu of flowers, please make your donations to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St John Nepomuk Catholic Church.
