Dorothy "Dottie" Kay Highman

Dorothy K. Highman, “Dottie”, age 72, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, June 4, 2026, surrounded by her children. She was born in Milwaukee, March 18, 1954, daughter of the late Robert and Emily Steinkrauss. In 1972, she married the love of her life, Roger Highman, sharing 51 wonderful years together until his passing in 2023.

Dottie spent her early years staying home to raise her children before pursuing careers in banking and later as a medical surgery scheduler. She was very grateful to be able to retire early, as this meant more time with her cherished family. Dottie enjoyed her morning coffee, the quiet of a good book and could never resist a sugary treat. She treasured all the happy chaos that family gatherings brought into her life over the years. Dottie formed unbreakable bonds with her children and grandchildren and loved them all fiercely.

Dottie is survived by her children, Jodi (Scott) Hunt, Jon (Molly) Highman and Julie Towery: grandchildren and greatest joy, Madi, Morgan, Payten, Mikaela, Maddex, Mason, Emily, Alex and Violet. She is further survived by her in-laws, Lorraine Zinke, Mary (Dan) Peltier, Sarah Matsen, Stephen Highman, and David Highman. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Caden Highman; sister, Judy Carlisle; and in-laws, Jerry, Tom, and Janice Highman, and Phyllis Gandee.

Relatives and friends may meet the family at the funeral home, Thursday, June 11, 2026, 10-12 pm. Private interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.
