Dorothy Marie Waltenberger passed away peacefully on Monday October 14th, 2024, at the Veterans Home, Boland Hall, two weeks shy of her 103rd birthday.

On November 23, 1941, Dorothy was united in marriage to George Waltenberger who preceded her in death on November 13, 1979. In her earlier years Dorothy was employed by Twin Disc where she made many friends. She was an accomplished piano player, sharing her talent while playing for silent movies, her church and on the radio. She loved traveling, baking, shopping with her daughters, spending time with her son, their spouses and her loving grandchildren. Her family especially enjoyed her delicious lemon meringue and banana cream pies. Above all it was time spent with her family that she cherished the most. We will miss her beautiful smile, her joyful spirit and loving ways. She will always live in our hearts.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Janice (Michael) Kutschera and Jane (William) Muzenski. Her beloved and devoted son John (Kathie) passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 2024. She is also survived by her sister Ramona Petersen; brother, James (Cathy) Stanek; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parent’s and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Stanek, William Stanek, sister, Caroline Schneider and brothers-in-law Michael Schneider and Thomas Petersen and sister-in-law Sally Stanek.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, December 9, 2024, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with family on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 2:00 until 4:00 pm at the funeral home, and Monday, at 10:00 am, until time of Mass at the church.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staffs at the Veteran’s Home, Boland Hall and Hospice Alliance for their loving and compassionate care.
