Douglas “Poppy” Overstreet, age 69, passed away at his home on Monday, November 24, 2025. He was born in Enterprise, Mississippi, on April 20, 1956, son of the late Glasper and Ida Mae Overstreet (McCarthy).

Doug was a graduate of Washington Park High School, “Class of 1974”. On April 6, 1991, he was united in marriage to Mary Lyon, his forever love. Doug was employed for over 20 years at St. Edward Catholic Church and School and was loved by all who worked there with him. He was a well-known musician in the Racine area, which was his main hobby for most of his life. He played the bass guitar in various bands including Group Therapy with Roy Edwards and Gary Lekas. He also had a passion for grilling and made the best food. Above all, the time he spent with his family is what he cherished the most. His great-grandchildren had his heart, and the kids loved him just the same.

He was loved so dearly and will be sadly missed by his wife, Mary; daughter, Kathleen “Trina” Cushenberry; son, Jonah Holub; five grandchildren, Patricia, Brandon, Hayllie, Mia and Tia; ten great grandchildren; siblings: Kathreyn, Peggy, Clarice, Glasper Jr., James, Willie and Jerry Overstreet; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parent’s, he was preceded in death by his brother Johnnie and sisters, Christine and Eliza.

Funeral services celebrating Doug’s life will be held at 11:30 am at the funeral home, Monday, December 1, 2025. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation, Monday at 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
