Dr. Lloyd Melis

Dr Lloyd Melis, Phd, 87, passed away on Aug 14th, 2015, after a long and fruitful life. He is survived by his brother Al Melis, sons Stuart, David, John and Stephen, as well as his son in-law Byron, his daughter in-law Stacey, and his granddaughter, Evelyn. Dr Melis, retired head of the education dept at Carthage College in Kenosha, had a very distinguished career as an educator. Many of his former students at Carthage are, or were, teachers in the Racine and Kenosha school districts. His compassion and dedication for teaching was exemplified by his commitment to special education, a field in which his expertise was sought after for seminar and consulting work. A service celebrating his life and commitment to his family and work, will be held at the funeral home, Thursday, August 20, 2015, 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Stephen Samuelson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Private interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery.
