Elaine C. Peters, age 81, passed away June 10, 2024, at Froedtert Memorial Hospital, Wauwatosa. She was born in St. Paul. MN, July 14, 1942, daughter of the late Milton and Marie (Nee: Larson) Markison.

Elaine was confirmed at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN. She graduated in 1960 from Sibly High School in West St. Paul and graduated from the University of Minnesota, receiving her BS degree in Home Economics in 1964. On November 27, 1964, Elaine was united in marriage to Rev. James F. Peters, who preceded her in death on December 3, 2022.

Being the wife of a pastor, Elaine was kept busy with program planning, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and other church groups and church missions. Elaine was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and was proud to serve alongside her husband as a missionary worker in Tanzania. Elaine applied her secretarial experience as an administrative assistant at Carthage College. She also applied her background in Home Economics working for Goodwill and the Family Nutrition Education Program (FNEP) in Racine County.

Elaine was a talented seamstress, making many of her husband’s vestments over the years. She enjoyed, knitting, needlework, and completing craft projects.

She was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by her children, Amanda (William) Tenwinkel, Dietrick (Lisa) Peters, Mark (Martha) Peters; grandchildren, twins, Rachel and Rebecca Tenwinkel, Sarah (Luke) Hoggatt, Jack Tenwinkel, Christian, Paul, Frederick, Russell and Benjamin Peters; brother-in-law, Gary Nielsen; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne (Bonnie) Markison, and sister Judy Nielsen.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Froedtert Memorial Hospital and St. Camillus for their loving and compassionate care.

Funeral Services celebrating Elaine’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 12, 2024, at St. Camillus, San Camillio Chapel, 10200 West Bluemound Rd., Wauwatosa. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation Friday, 1:00 pm until time of service. Private interment will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Memorials to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research have been suggested by the family.
