Ell Verne Doris Pluck, age 96, passed away peacefully with her loving niece Linda by her side Saturday, March 30, 2024, at her residence. She was born in North Cape, December 16, 1927, the first of 3 daughters of Andrew and Edna (Nee: Braund) Anderson.

Ell Verne was a cheerful worker, attending North Cape School and also completing a semester at Rochester. She left her studies when she realized her parents needed help to run the family farm. Her first job was at Horlickā€™s Malted Milk factory, then she applied for a position at SC Johnson. Her persistent nature was revealed after she was turned down for the job. She returned multiple times before persuading the hiring manager that she would be able to get to work on time everyday despite the long commute. True to her word, Ell Verne moved with her parents to Racine, and retired as a Serviceperson after 36 years. She was a cheerful worker and enjoyed many friendships made over the years. On June 7, 1969, she was united in marriage to Thomas L. Pluck who preceded her in death on November 5, 1994.

Ell was born and raised on a small family farm near North Cape Lutheran Church where she enjoyed spending time with family and many good friends. Her ties to the church can be traced back to her grandparents who were part of the founding members. Ell Verne grew up witnessing many hardships in her younger years. She chose to face life with compassion, kindness, faith and hope. She worked hard and looked for beauty in the world around her. Ell played piano and brought fun, joy, and happiness to many family gatherings with everyone singing. The last in her generation, she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, and aunt who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her nieces and nephews Bonnie (Ed) Fickas, Linda (Jerry) Verwey, Sharon (Brian) Truss, Lynn (Ron) Myers, Robert Mathieus, and their many children. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Angeline (Miles) Theurich and Edna May (Robert) Mathieus.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 7, 2024, 2 pm at North Cape Lutheran Church, 2644 Raynor Ave, Franksville, WI 53126, with Reverend Rob Kosky officiating. Interment will follow at North Cape Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 1-2 pm. Memorials to North Cape Lutheran Church have been suggested.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Preceptor Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
