Emily M. Jakubowski, age 85, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Brookdale Kenosha North. Emily was born in Racine, November 29, 1929, daughter of the late Joseph and Emily (Nee: Beyer) Summers.

On April 28, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Racine she was united in marriage to Edmond F. Jakubowski who preceded her in death, December 17, 2000. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s by the Lake Catholic Church. Emily enjoyed baking wedding and birthday cakes, knitting, reading, crafts, and ceramics. Above all she was a loving and devoted mom, grandma, and great-grandma who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children, Mary (Jim) Loendorf, Ann (Charles) Gedemer, Kay (Gerald) Clark, all of Racine, Susan (Charles) Brinkman of South Carolina; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren with two on the way; 3 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Mathew (Marianne) Summers of Rockford, IL; sister, Irene Taylor of FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 22, 2015, 5:00 P.M. at St. Mary’s by the Lake Catholic Church, 7605 Lakeshore Drive, with Rev. Stephen Stradinger officiating. Private entombment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 3:00 P.M. until time of Mass at 5:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
