Life Story / Obituary
Esperanza “Hope” D. White, age 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.
Hope was born on December 14, 1954, to the late Pedro and Eudelia (nee: DeLao) Villarreal. She was a kind and charismatic mother, Lita, daughter, sister, and friend. She loved her grandchildren with her whole heart. Spending time with them would “make her heart smile.”
She was a graduate of William Horlick High School class of 1974 and would later go on to become a Paraeducator at Starbuck Middle School and Goodland Elementary, where her students quickly became her other children. She loved and cherished the time she had with all the staff and students before her retirement.
Hope had a passion for creating beautiful silk flower arrangements and center pieces. Her attention to detail and her warm, caring nature led her to help coordinate many weddings. She poured her heart and soul into making every couple’s special day unforgettable, as she had always done with everyone she met.
To know Hope was to know a forgiving and Godly woman who would share her love of the Lord with anyone. She loved to dance and worship, and would often say, “I’m not a rich woman, but I’m rich in the Lord.”
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Ruth (Taylor) Stevenson, Stephanie (Anthony) Mundy, Stephen White (Brooke Slamka), and Jana White. Her grandchildren: Elianna, Abram, Oliver, Analise, Isabelle, Moses, Ben, and Olivia. Her siblings: Angie (Jeme) Palacios, Pete (Kathi) Villarreal, Luis (Cindy) Villarreal, Juanita Villarreal, Caroline Quiroz, and Tammy Rach, along with nieces, nephews, and so many other relatives and dear friends.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the hard-working staff at Aurora and St. Luke’s, especially Tanya Jackson, for all the love and care she gave to Hope this past year as her home nurse and friend.
Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Apostolic Faith Church, 3045 Airline Rd. Mt. Pleasant, WI. Visitation will be held from 10-11:30 a.m., with a service to follow. Her son-in-law, Anthony Mundy, will be officiating. Per Hope’s request, the family asks that you please wear color to celebrate her bright and vibrant life. Memorials to City of Hope Fibromyalgia Research Fund: https://www.cityofhope.org/research/research-overview/fibromyalgia-research-fund have been suggested by the family.
Hope has had an amazing impact on so many lives and will be greatly missed by all.
