Ethan Kyle Lewis, 43, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

Ethan was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin, the son of Bill and Elaine Lewis and brother to Alison and Malisa. With his beloved wife Karla, he had four boys, Lincoln, Logan, Collin, and Mason.

Ethan’s love for his family was at the heart of everything he did. He and Karla shared 24 years together, including 14 years of marriage. She was his partner, best friend, and the love of his life. Above all, Ethan was a devoted husband and father who treasured his time with his family. His boys were his greatest pride and joy, and the memories they created together will be treasured forever.

“Ethar’s” love of sailing was unmatched. He had been sailing his entire life, and the water was a place where he felt most at home. Over the years, sailing became something especially meaningful to share with his boys. He loved having them by his side, teaching them, and creating memories they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. For Ethan, there was nothing better than being on the water with his family and sailing with his boys was among his greatest joys.

He was a Master Electrician and a jack of all trades, always there for others. Ethan was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and friend. As his friend Richy would like to quote from The Big Lebowski, Ethan was always "takin' 'er easy for all us sinners."

Ethan was loved dearly and will be missed greatly by his wife Karla; sons Lincoln, Logan, Collin, and Mason; parents Bill and Elaine Lewis; mother-in-law Jill Kortendick; sisters Alison (Adam) Moe and Malisa (Will) Culpepper; sister-in-law Jenna (Adam) Hanson; and four nieces. He was predeceased in death by his father-in-law Carl Kortendick.

The Lewis and Kortendick families extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our family, friends, and the sailing community who have rallied around the family with your love, strength, and support.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials in Ethan’s honor can be made to the Racine Yacht Club Youth Sailing Program or to an education fund being set up for his sons.
