Life Story / Obituary
Evelyn H. (Evie) Davison Mousseau, age 91 passed away on July 19, 2026. Evelyn was born on November 24, 1934 in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Joseph J. and Frances M. Kostka (nee Stezowski). She attended Notre Dame High School and Wright Junior College. Evie was united in marriage to Jack S. Davison on May 5, 1955 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Chicago. Prior to her marriage, Evie worked at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. The Davison Family moved to Racine, WI in August 1960, where Jack went into the automobile business. Jack passed away on November 21, 2001. As a new resident of Racine, Evie joined Newcomers Club where she met many new friends. She subsequently became a charter member of the Racine Junior Women’s Club, and a member of the Junior League of Racine.
When her youngest child started school, Evie went to work for the City of Racine, working for the Department of City Development for 15 years. She then transferred to the Mayor’s Office where she worked for 18 years; two years for Mayor Stephen F. Olsen, eight years for Mayor N. Owen Davies, and eight years for Mayor James M. Smith. She retired in January 2003. On June 18, 2004, Evelyn married Daniel J Mousseau. They shared many happy years together traveling and spending many winters at The Villages in Florida. Dan passed away May 31, 2016. Evie enjoyed golfing, reading, doing Suduko puzzles, and playing many card games, especially bridge. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children; Diane (Jim) Seal, Robert B. Davison, Gregory J. (Marie) Davison; nine grandchildren, Stacey (Chad) Bonenberger, Brandon J. (Katrina) Seal, Monique Nelsen, Melissa Davison, Kristina Leist (Fiancé, Joe Josias), Jessica (Derek) McKinzie, Nicholas Wernicke, Danielle Skrzypchak (Alek Koeppel); Stepchildren, Denise (Larry) Ricchio, Daniel C. (Linda) Mousseau, Jeffrey (Cathy) Mousseau, and Patrick (Colleen) Mousseau; 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husbands, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph J. Kostka, Jr., her daughter Kathy L. Wernicke, and granddaughter Michelle Skrzypchak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., on Friday, July 31, 2026, 11 am. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the Mass 10-11 am. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
