Fr. Robert J. McGlinn

Father Robert J. McGlinn, fondly known as “Padre Roberto” in the Hispanic communities of Racine and Milwaukee, entered eternal life on October 18, 2025, at the age of 95. He was the loving son of the late Gertrude and Leo McGlinn and dear brother of Patricia, his devoted sister. After his ordination in 1955 Fr. McGlinn served as a parish priest in the Archdiocese of Chicago for six years until an opportunity arose to be part of a team of Chicago priests who were assigned to work in the mission in Panama. Thus began many years of dedication to Hispanic communities in Panama and Honduras and Milwaukee and Racine. In Milwaukee, the Permanent Diaconate was established, and Fr. McGlinn was appointed to direct the formation of the Hispanic candidates. In the early 1970s he assisted in Migrant Ministry in Milwaukee, all the while returning frequently to help in Honduras. When in Milwaukee, he regularly participated in the liturgy at St. Patrick Parish. In 1991 he was appointed administrator of Cristo Rey Parish in Racine where he served for sixteen years 1991-2007. In 2007, he was appointed administrator of St. Hyacinth and St. Vincent de Paul parishes in Milwaukee. Then in 2009, he was offered the opportunity to gather into a worship community the Hispanics scattered across western Waukesha County. That community now has a home at St. Jerome’s in Oconomowoc. In his 80’s and 90’s he remained active in priestly ministry, volunteering at the Racine Correctional Institution, at Catholic Charities Day Care and at New Perspective Senior Living Center while continuing his dedication and priestly ministry to the Hispanic people of Racine, Milwaukee and western Waukesha County at St. Jerome’s in Oconomowoc. A Visitation will be held at St. Patrick Church, 1100 Erie St., Racine, one hour before the Mass of Christian Burial, 6;00 pm, at St. Patrick Church on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Burial will be in Illinois.

Padre Robert J. McGlinn, cariñosamente conocido como “Padre Roberto” en las comunidades hispanas de Racine y Milwaukee, entró a la vida eterna el 18 de octubre de 2025, a la edad de 95 años. Fue el amado hijo de los ya fallecidos Gertrude y Leo McGlinn, y querido hermano de Patricia, su devota hermana.

Después de su ordenación en 1955, el P. McGlinn sirvió como párroco en la Arquidiócesis de Chicago durante seis años, hasta que surgió la oportunidad de ser parte de un equipo de sacerdotes de Chicago asignados a la misión en Panamá. En 2007 fue nombrado administrador de las parroquias St. Hyacinth y St. Vincent de Paul en Milwaukee. Luego, en 2009, se le dio la oportunidad de reunir en una comunidad de culto a los hispanos dispersos en el oeste del condado de Waukesha. Esa comunidad ahora tiene su hogar en St. Jerome’s en Oconomowoc.

Ya en sus 80 y 90 años, se mantuvo activo en el ministerio sacerdotal, ofreciendo servicio voluntario en la Institución Correccional de Racine, en la Guardería de Caridades Católicas, y en el Centro de Cuidado New Perspective; al mismo tiempo continuaba su dedicación y ministerio sacerdotal al pueblo hispano de Racine, Milwaukee y el oeste del condado de Waukesha en St. Jerome’s en Oconomowoc.

La Visitación tendrá lugar en la Iglesia St. Patrick, 1100 Erie St., Racine, una hora antes de la Misa de Exequias (6:00 p.m.), el viernes 24 de octubre de 2025, desde las 5:00 p.m. hasta las 6:00 p.m. El entierro será en Illinois.
