Francis James "Frank" Randall, age 84, of Racine, Wisconsin, passed away on March 9, 2026, at Aurora Mount Pleasant Hospital. Born February 17, 1942, in Williston, North Dakota, he was the son of the late James and Margaret (Oleson) Randall.

Frank grew up in several North Dakota communities and graduated from Dickinson Central High School. He earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in mathematics and chemistry from Dickinson State College and went on to complete a master's degree and a PhD in chemistry from the University of North Dakota. In 1969 he began a thirty‑year career as a research chemist with SC Johnson in Racine, later consulting for the company until 2011. Frank was known for his expertise in surface chemistry and aerosol formulation and was listed as an inventor on more than thirty U.S. patents. His work contributed to advancements in many everyday household products.

On July 29, 1989, he married Mary J. "Jodie" Humpal, who preceded him in death in 1999. Though he and Jodie had no children, Frank was a devoted uncle, and his nieces, nephews, and great nephews brought him great joy.

Survivors include his sisters Mary Mataitis of Rochester, MN, and Margaret "Peggy" (Andrew) Johnson of Grand Forks, ND; his nieces and nephews; his great nephews; his close friend Jill Baranowski; and his sister‑in‑law Jan (Rich) Goryl and sister-in-law Cindy Humpal. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, mother‑in‑law, and brothers‑in‑law Edward Mataitis and Gene Humpal.

Frank will be remembered for his gentle manner, kindness, and generous spirit. He will be deeply missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 27, 2026, 10:30 am at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave Racine, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the Mass 9:30 am-10:30 am.
