Surrounded by his loving family, Frank A. Aiello, affectionately known as “Happy,” age 84, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Racine, May 14, 1933, son of the late Eugenio “James” and Aquila (Nee: Piselli) Aiello.

Frank was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1952”. During the Korean War, he proudly served in the United States Army. On August 29, 1959 at St. Lucy Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Janice R. Geissner. Frank was employed by the Racine County Highway Department for 34 years as a heavy machinery operator and stockroom supervisor before retiring in 1989. He was a lifelong member of St. Lucy Catholic Church, starting with the original church on Howe Street. In his earlier years, he was a proud member of Roma Hall. After retirement, you would likely find Frank tending to his bountiful garden or tinkering with his fleet of “vintage” tractors. His other pastimes included camping, long drives in the countryside, antique postcards, classic cars, and enjoying many family pets. Getting together with the Lakeside Gang of Mario, Artie, and Emil, produced many laughs and fond memories. Frank enjoyed many breakfasts with his fellow Racine County Highway Department retirees. Frank felt blessed to have been surrounded by good longtime neighbors who turned into great friends. More than anything else, spending time together with his loving family gave him the greatest joy.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Janice; his children, Vicki (Paul) Frederickson, Gene (Diane) Aiello; his six grandchildren, Janine Davis (Steve Pollock), Janelle Davis (fiancé Andrew Dicks), Jeana Frederickson (fiancé Matthew Cariello), James Frederickson (Stephanie Nielsen), Emily Aiello, Michael Aiello; two great-grandsons, Brayden Anton and Drake Schmidt; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Donna (Earl) Zemke, Shirley (Keith) Mentink, Jim (Kathy) Geissner, Lois (Ed) Engel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Louis Aiello; sisters, Mary (Francis) Prevost, Phyllis (Bob) Kluender; Janice’s parents Victor and Donette Geissner, sisters-in-law, Carol (Cas) DeNoto, and Sandra Geissner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, Tuesday, May 23, 2017, 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Javier Guativa officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday, May 22 at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and Tuesday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Lucy Catholic Church or to the Diabetes Association have been suggested, or to a charity of your choice.

A very special thank you to Dr. John Brennan and Deb Hysell, NP, for their loving and compassionate care.
