Gary Manteufel

Gary Manteufel, age 75, of Racine died June 4, 2026 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Gary was born in Wind Lake, WI on October 4, 1950, son of the late Edward and Helen (nee: Mutchler) Manteufel.

Gary was a proud graduate of Muskego High School “Class of 1968” where he played on their undefeated State Champion football team. Gary was united in marriage to Jean Ann Booth, who preceded him in death on January 12, 2022. He was employed as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for twenty-six years until he retired in 2012. He was a member of the Postal Workers Union and the National Association of Letter Carriers NALS. In his spare time, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sports,and all Wisconsin professional sports, especially baseball and the Milwaukee Brewers.

Known to his grandchildren as Papa/ Grandpa Gary his favorite place to be was the ballpark. Rain or shine, he rarely missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren's games, tournaments, and practices.His family will forever cherish the memories of him keeping score, shouting words of encouragement , and passing down his love for the sport-and the game of life-to the next generation.

Gary will be dearly missed by his children, Edward (Jessica) Manteufel, Rebecca (Patrick) McGowan, Michelle (Arturo) Davalos, Tony (Kim) Booth, Corey (Teresa) Tamez, Raymond Tamez; grandchildren, Rhys, Corbin, Nolan and Quinn Manteufel, Xander and Declyn McGowan, Ashley, Alex, Amber and Samantha Tamez, and Alazea Tamaz; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gary was also preceded in death by his brother, Ed and his sister, Ellen.

Visitation will be held at the Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home on Thursday June 11, 2026 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Gary’s Life Service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Memorials to the Sturtevant Youth Baseball Association have been suggested.
