Life Story / Obituary
George Hubbard Gordon, age 87, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center Mount Pleasant following a short illness. He was born in Racine, WI, November 8, 1938, son of the late Hollis and Katherine (Nee: Hubbard) Gordon.
George graduated from Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie de Chien. During his youth he had served as an altar boy for 8 years and had attained the rank of Eagle Scout. George went on to earn a degree in business from Marquette University and played on the basketball team for a year. George was employed in sales for Western Publishing and while on a trip to Alameda, CA he met the love of his life Patricia A. Good, they were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Alameda on January 20, 1962. George later was employed as president of Linnehan Welding Supply Corp for 7 years and then founded his own company, The Hubbard Company. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and the St. Catherine’s Alumni Club. George’s passions were God, family, music and sports in that order. He enjoyed coaching his kids in basketball and fantasy football. He will be remembered for his love of family, willingness to support no matter what, and for a smile that would light up a room. Above all he treasured time spent with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa “Papa” and great grandpa “Papa GG” who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Patricia; 5 children, Kathy (Peter) Neumann, Jeffrey Gordon, Brian Gordon, Cindy (Bill) Zolandz, Kevin (Sue) Gordon; grandchildren, Danny (Amy) Neumann, Gretchen (Mike) DeCesaro, Lindsey Gordon, Alex Gordon (Sherre), Colin Gordon, Kyle Gordon, Katelyn Gordon, Adam Gordon, Robert Gordon, Emma Gordon, Matthew Gordon, Christopher Czarnecki; great grandchildren, Aiden, Austin, and Addison Neumann; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary (John “Robert”) Miller and his brother, Robert (Joyce) Gordon.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 11 am. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the Mass 9:30 am until 11 am. Private interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials to One’s favorite charity have been suggested.
