George J. Snamiske, age 76, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center. He was born in South Milwaukee, February 28, 1949, son of the late John and Florence (Nee: Wrezinski) Snaminske.

On August 16, 1969, he was united in marriage to Gail Buchanan, who preceded him in death on July 1, 2023. George proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He dedicated his life as a Senior Master Sergeant and was an Inflight Aircraft Refueling Boom Operator.

He was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by his daughter, Lisa (Kurt) Ignasiak; his son, John Snamiske; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Abigail and Katherine Ignasiak; sister, Susan (David) Delaney; in-laws, Norma (Jim) Nelson, Ralph (Donna) Buchanan, Lauren (Barbara) Buchanan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parent’s and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Marvin Buchanan.

A Memorial Service celebrating George’s life will be held at 11:00 am at the funeral home, Monday, February 2, 2026. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for visitation Monday at 10:00 am until time of service. Private interment will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorials to the Young Aviators at Batten Field have been suggested by the family.
