Gilbert Isaiah Cotton

Gilbert Isaiah Cotton, age 25, was taken by a senseless act of violence Wednesday, January 18, 2023. He was born November 3, 1997, in Evanston, IL, son of Albertha Cotton. Gilbert was baptized at Second Baptist Missionary Baptist Church and had accepted Christ at a young age. He looked at Willie Henderson as a father figure in his life.

Gilbert had a passion for working on cars both as a mechanic and detailer. He was a “Jack of all Trades” and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and smile. He will be dearly missed.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his mother, Abertha Cotton; siblings, Denise Cotton, Melissa Cotton, Marsha Ruffins, Latasha Cotton, and Charles Cotton; brother-in-law, Ricky Smith; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Virginia Banana; grandfather, Josh Rice; siblings, Lisa Cotton, Dantell Cotton, Smith Cotton, Ruth Heath, Larry Cotton, Earl Cotton; niece, Mylonia Winbush; sister-in-law, Winifred Cotton.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023, 12-1pm at the funeral home with the funeral service at 1pm. Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery Monday February 6, 2023, at 10 am. Please meet at the cemetery entrance.
