Life Story / Obituary
Grace Elaine Flanagan (née Uebe) passed away peacefully in her home on September 27th, 2024. Grace was born in Racine, Wisconsin on November 13th, 1937, to Phillip and Clara (Dexter) Uebe. She graduated from Wm Horlick High School in 1955. On January 3, 1959, she married the love of her life, Daniel Arthur Flanagan. Grace and Dan spent many happy years camping and adventuring with their family. Grace was an avid golfer and reader. She loved gardening, floral arrangement, and playing bridge and mahjong. She delighted in art and in crafts of all kinds and will be remembered by her family and friends through the many beautiful paintings she gifted them.
Grace adored her family. She had a passion for genealogy and spent many hours learning our history. Above all, she cherished time spent with her loved ones and wished to be remembered through them. Grace is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel A. Flanagan, parents Phillip Uebe Sr & Clara (Dexter) Uebe, brother Phillip Uebe Jr, sisters-in-law Kathleen Flanagan, Eileen O’Day (Guilbert), and Patricia Flanagan Haas.
Grace is survived by her children Mary (Gary) Brownell, Thomas (Patricia) Flanagan, & James (Ruth) Flanagan; grandchildren Stephanie Brownell, Joseph Flanagan (Tiani Ibanez), Emily Grace Brownell, & Annie Flanagan (Patrick Hugasian), brother-in-law Terence Haas, sister-in-law Carol Uebe, and her special Saturday helper, Alyssa Simpson.
She is additionally survived by her nieces and nephews including: Kim (Gary) Reitsma, Tom (Linda) O’Day, Patrick O’Day, Michael O’Day, Brian O’Day, Candi (Jim) Vasey, Ellen (Phil) Cruz, Phillip III (Linda) Uebe, David Uebe, Paul (Christine) Uebe, Mary Sue (Gary) Redfern, and Elizabeth Long. Further many grand/great grand nieces and nephews make up her rich extended family including: Casey (Sharon) Reitsma, Meghan, Lauren; Jonathon Reitsma; Chuck (Ashley) O’Day, Maci; Ryan (Amy) O’Day, Lily, Buckley, Conner; Erin (Vab Naruka) O’Day, Manu; Molly O’Day, Alania; Eileen O’Day, Katie O’Day, Michael O’Day Jr., Melanie O’Day, and Colin O’Day; Callie Vasey, Ezra Bump; Sarah (Mike) Rothering, Liam, Ella; Max Cruz; Margaret (Chip) Juedes, Emily, Anna, Henry; and Sarah (Doug) Simpson, Cooper, Alyssa.
Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St. Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10 to 11 am. A service will be held at the funeral home at 11. Private interment will be held at a later date.
