Gregoria Figueroa, age 99, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, March 5, 2026, seven days short of her 100th birthday. She was born in Puerto Rico, March 12, 1926, daughter of the late Felipe Garcia and Canuta Rosa.
On May 22, 1971, at San Juan Bosco Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Rafael Figueroa. He preceded her in death August 28, 2017. Gregoria was a member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to church and in her earlier years had studied to become a nun until she met Rafael. Taking care of him became her priority in life and her greatest pleasure.
She is survived by her sister, Brigida (Phil) Ortiz; other relatives and dear friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on her 100th Birthday, Thursday, March 12, 2026. Visitation will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1100 Erie Street, 10-11 am with a Funeral Mass at 11 am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
