Gwendolyn F. Simanek, age 98, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at her residence. Gwendolyn was born in Racine, July 5, 1916, daughter of the late Frank and Mabel (Nee: Brothers) Deschler.

Gwendolyn was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1934”. On February 14, 1942 she was united in marriage to John “Bob” Simanek who preceded her in death, March 3, 1999. She was a longtime member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. Gwendolyn had a great love for traveling and also enjoyed painting. More than anything she cherished time spent with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Stephen (Theresa) Simanek, Julianne (Richard) Behling, Thomas Simanek, Daniel (Theresa) Simanek; her grandchildren, Emily (Paul) Ricco, Peter Simanek, Christopher Simanek, Terra (Brad) Morris; her six great-grandchildren, Quinn, Ethan, Eliana, Tristram, Isabella, Riverlyn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Robert and brother, Franklin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 4, 2014, 11:00 A.M. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green Street, with Rev. Steve Varghese officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Memorials to St. Catherine’s High School have been suggested.
