Life Story / Obituary
Harriet “Jean” Gustin, Age 84, Passed away January 6, 2025, at Ridgewood Care Center. Jean was born in Stevens Point, April 21, 1940, daughter of the late James and Maxine (Nee: Tubbs) Russell. Jean grew up on a farm in Almond, WI, the eldest daughter of ten children. She was a graduate of Alexander High School, Nekoosa, WI. “Class of 1958.”
On July 11, 1959, Jean was united in marriage to James Gustin, who preceded her in death on August 12, 1985. In 1961, Jim and Jean took on the responsibility of raising her seven siblings in addition to her five sons, after the death of her mother.
Jean had a great work ethic and was employed at Warren Packaging for many years until her retirement in 2005. Jean had a great love of traveling, reading, puzzles, board games and of course was an avid Packer Fan. Above all she cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren the most.
She was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by her sons, Dale (Terri) Gustin, Allen (Janet) Gustin, Russell (Joyce) Gustin, Clark (Cindy) Gustin and James Spencer Gustin; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Marjorie Russell, Maureen Polly, William (Christine) Russell, DeWayne “Gary” (Linda) Russell, Maxine (Dale) Bates, Patricia Russell (Mark Beutler); In-laws, Maxine Cornwell, Dean Gustin, Richard (Joyce) Gustin, Ronald (Mary) Gustin, Barbara Gustin; nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Kathleen (Wesley) Van Marter, Thomas Russell, Shirley (John) Davis, daughter-in-law, Pamela Gustin, granddaughter, Sheila Gustin, infant twins, Lucas and Russell, in-laws, Donald Cornwell, Diane Gustin, Terry (Dee) Gustin, Dave Gustin and Donna Bolin.
Funeral services celebrating Jean’s life will be held at the funeral home, 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 14, 2025, with Rev. Richard Molter officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy. 32. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation at the funeral home on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, and on Tuesday at 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
