Life Story / Obituary

Print

Henry Lorenzo Janes III, age 60, passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 12, 2023. He was born in Racine, September 29, 1962, son of the late Henry and Jean (Nee: Elsmo) Janes Jr.

Hobby: Ancestry, History, Learning, Astronomy

HIS HAPPY PLACE: The Lake… Lake Michigan of course! He said it was his therapist. Henry was so blessed to have the Lake so close throughout his life. Growing up on Wisconsin Avenue in Racine, Door County and even while in Illinois, the Lake was his backyard. The lake always had a strong draw for Henry. Just listening to the waves crash onto the rocks or the sand… There Henry could celebrate, meditate, cry, and pray.

MacGyver, The Verb: To make, form or repair with what is ‘on hand’. Henry always had a way to ‘get it done’. Taking the knowledge he learned over the years in carpentry, he was creative at times to either assist himself, or to think outside the box to make what the customer wanted… happen.

THIRST FOR KNOWLEDGE: Henry loved learning. He enjoyed talking about everything with anyone who had an interesting topic. He loved the awesomeness of creation. He loved the vastness of the universe. Always the adventurer – from childhood on.

SELF-DEPRECATING: Always ready to laugh at himself… at all our foibles… Usually ending up with that deep wonderful belly laugh

HEART - The guy had HEART! Physically, born with a heart defect. Who knew? Although his heart was a smaller than expected organ, his heart was in fact HUGE emotionally. He cared for and helped others, just because or to help them during turbulent times. His love was not just limited by his family through blood. His love spanned to include friends, the family of his friends. He loved most everybody, and is known for his complete, deep and loving HUGS!

SPIRITUAL: Henry always wrote on each of his daily ‘to-do’ lists: God 1st… Often. He really tried daily to keep God front and center in his life.

HISTORY: He loved history! Yes, his family ancestors gave him a lot to track and learn. But US History and World history also caught his eye.
