Hortencia Estrada Gomez

Hortencia Estrada Gomez, age 99, passed away on Saturday February 17, 2024. Hortencia was born in Apaseo Nieves, Zacatecas, Mexico on August 19, 1924, daughter of the late Luis and Teodora (nee: Soto) Estrada.

In 1943, Hortencia was married to Alvaro Gomez. They were married for 43 years before he passed away in April of 1986. She enjoyed cooking and gardening outdoors. Hortencia will be best remembered for her great love and devotion to her family.

Hortencia will be dearly missed by her children, Maria Gomez, Alejandrina Gomez and Hermenejildo (Rosa) Gomez; son-in-law and daughters-in-law, Samuel Torres, Pascuala Gomez and Maria Gomez; grandchildren, Jorge Torres, Marcelo (Aurora) Bonilla, Gloria Bonilla, Albaro (Rebecca) Gomez, Mauricio Gomez, Sandra Gomez, Cesar Gomez, Perla (Alex) Garcia, Kristina Gomez, Jose Alex Gomez; 15 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Olimpia Gomez, Benjamin Gomez and Gregoria Gomez; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Hortencia was also preceded in death by her children, Cecilia Torres, Antonio Gomez and Jose Gomez, and siblings Benjamin Estrada, Aurelio Estrada, Juan Estrada, Luis Estrada, Sidonia Estrada, Antonio Estrada, Amador Estrada, Socorro Estrada, and Jose Estrada.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1100 Erie Street, on Saturday February 24, 2024, 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Juan Manuel Camacho officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.
