Life Story / Obituary
Ida Infusino, age 95, passed away peacefully at home on Friday August 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Ida was born in Rende, Cosenza Italy on May 20, 1931, daughter of the late Raffaele and Teresa (Nee: Iorio) Salerno.
She spent her younger years working alongside her family on their farm in Italy. Ida married the love of her life, Giovanni Infusino, on September 3, 1953. From this union came their sons, Pasquale and Egidio. In December of 1970, they made the move to the United States and lived in Blue Island, Illinois for a short time before moving to Racine.
Ida was an excellent cook, and she helped with the preps for the family restaurants. She made homemade ravioli, gnocchi and lasagna among many other Italian dishes. Ida continued doing this for many years.
She was so proud of the huge endeavor for the opening of Infusinos Pizzeria and Restaurant and Banquet Hall. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed her favorite television channel with game shows and tending to her gardens. She enjoyed her occasional visits to various casinos, including Las Vegas where she kiddingly said she was just “going to the office”. She cherished her time spent with her friends, especially Mary (Garbo) Wicklund, the grandkids, and great grandkids and was affectionately known as Nanna Ida.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her sons and their wives, Pasquale (Nella) and Egidio (Donna); her grandkids, Giovanni (Katie), Gino Jr. (Kathy), Giuseppe (Gina) and Ida (Angelo); her great grandkids, Alex, Sofia, Giacomino, Vincenzo, Annalisa, Mia, Aria, PJ and Nunzio; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many other relatives from all over, from California to Canada to Italy.
In addition to her parent’s and in-laws, she was preceded in death by her husband Giovanni of 40 years, one brother and four sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Ida’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Rev. James Presta officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation, Monday, September 14, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. at the funeral home, and on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 10:00 am until time of Mass at the church. Memorials to St. Rita Catholic Church have been suggested.
Ida’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her short-term hospice caregivers from Aurora at Home Hospice and to the doctors and nurses who provided loving and compassionate care.
