James Franklin Davies

May 13, 1944-August 28, 2025

James Franklin “Jimmy” Davies, age 81, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday August 28, 2025. Jimmy was born May 13, 1944, in Mayfield, KY to the late Jewell and Lauretta (nee: Smith) Davies.

Jimmy accepted Christ at a young age at Fairview Baptist Church in Mayfield, KY. On April 13, 1974, Jimmy was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jozell Knight. Jimmy pursued being an auto mechanic. He always had a variety of autos and became known as Mr.-Fix-It. He retired from Chrysler/American Motors after over thirty years of dedication. In his spare time, Jimmy was an avid drag car racer and loved to fish.

Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Jozell; brother-in-law, Clement (Ann) Knight; sister-in-law, Sylvia Knight; niece, Delores “Dee Dee” Hervey of Southaven, MS; great niece and nephews, Malika, Majada and Shontate; Goddaughter, Erin Burns of Eagen, MN; special friends, Jimmy Smith and June Baxter; and their sweet puppy Baby.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was also preceded in death by his siblings, William “Billy” Davies and Betty (H.C. Sr.) Whitnell; niece, Martha V; nephews, H.C. Jr., Ricky, Tommie, and Johnnie Whitnell; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Minnie Knight.

Jimmy is no longer with us repairing autos but definitely left his mark on all of us.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 6, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at Trinity United Missionary Baptist Church, 306 5th Street, Racine, WI, with Pastor Buddy O. Vinson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
