Life Story / Obituary
December 28, 1943 – June 29, 2025
Jean Abegglen, age 81, peacefully returned home to Heaven on Sunday, June 29, 2025. She had been at Columbia St. Mary’s hospital in Milwaukee for cardiac surgery and care. She passed while surrounded by her loved ones.
Jean was born in Milwaukee, WI to the late Winfred and Florence (nee: Gielser) Kaempfer. She was the youngest of their three daughters. Jean’s sisters, Karen Schroeder and Kathleen Stanczyk, preceded her in death.
Jean’s childhood was spent living in Milwaukee, Okauchee and Caledonia, WI. She had many wonderful memories of living by Lake Okauchee as a child.
Jean was a graduate of Horlick High School – class of 1962. After graduation, she worked several different jobs. She met the love of her life, James Abegglen, in 1965. They married in May 1966 and remained married until James’ passing in 2016.
Jean gave birth to fraternal twins, Janae and James, in March 1969. She was an amazing mother and enjoyed her children immensely.
Jean started her career as a Realtor in 1977. She assisted hundreds of people to achieve their dreams of owning a home. She continued to provide her experience and expertise until her death. She expanded her role to include teaching real estate in 1993. She was an excellent teacher and thoroughly enjoyed preparing others to be a Realtor and doing continuing education classes.
Jean was an incredibly generous person. Her caring and loving kindness has been felt by many family members and friends. Jean was famous for inviting any one to join in our celebrations – she just considered them friends she had yet to meet.
Jean also had a passion for rescuing animals. Many family members and friends have found themselves becoming pet parents to everyone’s benefit. She was an active and generous contributor to Creative Cat Care – a nonprofit organization run by her niece Jennette Cable.
Jean’s strong faith sustained her throughout her life. She was a powerful prayer warrior and was always available to pray with someone.
Jean’s family was very very important to her. She was the last matriarch of our family. She is survived by her daughter, Janae Abegglen, her son James Abegglen and her daughter-in-law Kristen Abegglen. Jean has five grandsons; Adam (Laura) Abegglen, Jacob Abegglen, Caleb (Emily) Abegglen, Zachariah Abegglen, and Samuel (Beth) Abegglen. She was “GreatNa” to her six great-grandchildren: Wren. Eoghan, Laiken, Ari, Mylo and Odin.
“Those we hold most dear never truly leave us...they live on in the kindness they showed, the comfort they shared, and the love they brought into our lives.”
In lieu of flowers donations may be directed her family or Creative Cat Care in Milwaukee, WI.
