Jerris La Monte Britton affectionately known as “Tut” was born to the late Mrs. Maggie Mae and Mr. Charles T. Britton on June 22, 1956 in St. Louis, MO. but was raised in East St Louis, IL.

Later, “Tut” relocated to Flint, MI, for a short time to be closer to her eldest brother Charles and later moved to Racine, WI to be near Granny Lorraine Bulliner. “Tut” was a resident of Racine for almost 45 years.

“Tut” attended School District 189 in East St. Louis, IL. She returned to school to complete her education and obtained her GED from Gateway Technical College in Racine, WI. By attending night school while working 2-3 jobs and raising her 3 daughters, Ketra, Montrice and Kamala.

“Tut” also obtained her Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA)

As an aspiring entrepreneur, she launched her own Avon and Tupperware businesses with Granny Lorraine.

In 1995 “Tut” studied and became a certified Childcare Provider under her mentor Annie Todd. In June of that year, she graduated from the program and launched her own center as the founder and director of “Children’s United Childcare Center”.

“Tut” loved working with her hands creating crafts such as: pottery, upholstery, decorating, thrifting, rummage sales, shopping online (QVC), growing plants, watching cooking channels on YouTube, and talking on the phone.

She is survived by her two daughters:

Seven Grandchildren:

Whitney S. Hudson, (WI) Maya A. Lanier (LJ),(TX) Melissa E. Robertson, (AL) Omunique T. Reams, (WI) Jerris A. Reams, (WI) Judaea I. Sykes, (WI) Tony D.Robertson Jr, Tevin D. Robertson, Prosperity G. Robertson (all of TN)

Three Great Grandchildren:

Malaya S. Misenas, Layla S. Hudson Junior, Promise Reams (all of WI)

Two Sisters: Juanita “Faye” Britton, (IL)

Minta “Renee” Britton ( WI)

Two Brothers: Don Britton ( MS) & Darron (Priscilla) Britton ( FL)

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses who provided her care at Aurora Medical Center ( Kenosha) and Ascension All Saints Hospital (Racine).
