Life Story / Obituary
Jimmy L. Smith, age 79, passed peacefully at his home with his wife beside him, Monday, June 15, 2026. He was born in Tennessee on March 3, 1947, son of the late Lursie and Ethel Smith.
Jimmy owned and operated a car dealership, G&L Motors for several years and was a “Jack of all Trades”. He was united in marriage to Georgia Avery on April 13, 1991. He was a free spirit who enjoyed riding his motorcycles, bowling, fishing and testing his luck at the casinos.
He was loved and will be dearly missed by his wife, Georgia, of thirty five years; sister Anatha Wells of Michigan.; Son, Brandt Smith of New Jersey; Daughter, Kari Smith of Wisconsin; Grandchildren, Grayson, Ravanne & Shyanne Wolff, Noah Smith, Jonathon & Dessarae Martin and Jimmy (Jeremiah) Smith; Stepson, Eugene Sills; as well as a host of nieces & nephews, and family included in the Berryhill, Powell, Nunn, and Cobb families.
Jimmy also left behind to cherish his memory some very special friends; Henry &Sherry Jackson; Micah Tharpe; Kevin & Joan Watson and too many others too mention.
In addition to his parent’s listed above, he was preceded in death by his adopted Mother, Juliette Cobb; Uncle, Jimmy Berryhill; Sisters, Martha Starks & Debbie Abbott, & Daughter Elizabeth Wolff.
A Memorial Service celebrating Jimmy’s life will be held at 11:00 am at the funeral home, Saturday, June 27, 2026, with Rev. Joseph Thomas officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation, Saturday at 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
