Joan G. Kotes

Surrounded by the love of her family, Joan Gertrude Kotes, age 92, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023, at her home. She was born in Milwaukee, WI, July 4, 1931, daughter of the late Emil and Sophie (Nee:Kemper) Cudnohowski.

While in high school she met the love of her life, Kenneth R. Kotes and they were united in marriage August 16, 1952. They were blessed with two children Deborah and Bryan. Joan was a cosmetology manager in Milwaukee and Racine for 40 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Grace Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening. She also enjoyed the motorhome life traveling with Ken across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. She will be remembered for her excellent cooking, her baked pies, and devotion to her family. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband of 71 years, Ken; daughter, Deborah Hempel; granddaughters, Shannan (Luis) Pineda, Melissa (Chris) Sloan, Michelle (Bart) Bolman, Jamie Jenkins; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard Kotes; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bryan Kotes; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Friday, September 8, 2023, 11 am. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 10-11 am.
