Life Story / Obituary
Joan Marie Weisensel, age 83, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Shorelight at Siena. She was born in Racine, September 17, 1938, daughter of the late Jerome and Frances (Nee: Mascari) Westrich.
Joan graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1956”. On May 2, 1959, she was united in marriage to Marvin L. Weisensel, and they were blessed with 4 children, Edward, Allan, Ann, and Donna. Marvin passed away March 21, 2011, after 52 years of marriage. In her early years she worked for InSinkErator, Racine Unified School District, and The State of Wisconsin. She enjoyed raising her children and being a good neighbor. Joan was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, cross-stitch, reading, craft fairs, library visits and her dog, Rosie. She helped her community through involvement in Neighborhood Watch, by serving as a Girl Scout leader, and contributing to a range of church projects, including many hours organizing the parish library. In her later years she treasured her time and adventures with her great-granddaughter, Tora. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her children, Edward Weisensel, Ann Weisensel, Donna Weisensel; daughter-in-law, Louise Weisensel; grandchildren, Jessica Rodriguez, Anthony “AJ” Weisensel, Rachel Weisensel; great-granddaughter, Tora; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Allan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 24, 2022, 11 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave, with Reverend Ricardo Martin officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the Mass 10 am until 10:45 am. Memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital have been suggested.
