John Eickhorst, age 78, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025, at Ascension All Saints Hospital. He was born in Racine, September 13, 1946, son of the late Herbert and Martha (Nee:Panyk) Eickhorst.
John graduated from St. John’s Lutheran Grade School and Lutheran High School “Class of 1964”. He proudly served in the U.S. Airforce from 1964 – 1968 stationed in Japan. John was employed by Western Publishing Co for 35 years retiring in 2001. John loved all sports. In his early years he was an avid bowler, golfer and played ball for St. John’s Lutheran Softball Team. He enjoyed time at his cabin up north hunting and fishing. John was also an avid Brewer’s Fan who enjoyed going to the Dog Track, Horse Track and trips to Las Vegas and other casinos to test his luck. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his loving companion Linda (Nee: Malmberg) Hoppe and family: her daughter Heather Hoppe and grandchildren, Elizabeth, Eric, and Eddie; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judith (Bernard) Clark and his brother, James (Francine) Eickhorst.
Private services were held with interment and full military honors at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Dover, WI. Memorials to Lutheran High School have been suggested.
